Andrew Douglas-Forbes
Andrew Douglas-Forbes started painting from a very early age , so much so that apparently Andrew wouldn't write 'Apple' but instead drew one! He was extremely fortunate to be taught privately by Gordon Stuart, the eminent Canadian/Welsh painter. The philosophy and handling of paint was emphasised by Stuart over the 'how to' approach. Andrew attended Swansea Art College to expand his artistic knowledge. His unique approach to creating an artwork is to lay down initial abstract mark making and develop forms that 'emerge' into a finished piece. Andrew lived in Tuscany for a time, singing opera professionally, before eventually moving back to Wales to focus on his painting. Andrew has work in the collection at the Glynn Vivian gallery, Carmarthen county and many private collections worldwide. His work is exhibited worldwide, from New York to San Francisco, Olympia and the UK. Apart from painting, Andrew's other loves are singing opera and antiques. He lives and works from the hilltop town of Llandeilo.
