Gary Hamer Rees
Gary Hamer Rees was born in 1948 and grew up in the mining town of Upper Brynamman, Carmarthenshire. He studied art at Carmarthen School of Art and Birmingham School of Art from 1966 to 1969. Gary’s work is influenced by his upbringing in close proximity to heavy industry and rugged rural landscapes. He’s most notable for his depictions of mid-20th century working class people and landscapes of the South Wales coalfields.
