Rhian Nest James was born in Wales and spent much of her early school years avoiding Maths and PE, seeking refuge in the art department. She attended the local art college in Cardiff, going on to study illustration at Exeter College of Art and becoming a freelance illustrator. Rhian has illustrated for many publications, including many children’s books. She lived in Sydney, Australia for many years but has recently returned to live in Llandeilo, Wales. Rhian’s paintings are often inspired by the Carmarthenshire landscape, using acrylics on canvas.
