Sallie Wakley

Sallie Wakley was born in Surrey in 1967 but grew up in the West Country. In 1986 she moved to Wales to study Wildlife Illustration followed by two years of Ceramics, by which time Sallie had fallen in love with the wild Welsh hills.

In 2002 Sallie bought a little cottage on a wooded hillside in Carmarthenshire, which she shares with her four rescue dogs, seven cats and a dozen chickens. It’s here that she has built her studio that looks out over the garden.

Sallie’s work comes from her lifelong passion for animals and nature. Each piece is as individual as the animals she portrays, starting with the clay and glazes that she makes from her own recipes. Sallie creates a whole range of animals, although she regularly returns to her favourites, the fox and the hare.

Sallie’s work has been shown in Europe and America, but she now concentrates on pieces for galleries and private commissions.
