Peter Prendergast

Peter Prendergast was born in 1946 in Abertridwr, a mining village in Glamorgan. His art teacher at secondary school recognised his talent and he went on to win a County art scholarship to attend the Cardiff School of Art in 1962, moving to the Slade School of Fine Art in 1964. Although he won the Nettleship prize for figure drawing at the Slade it was his landscapes he became so well known for, partly inspired by his move to North Wales. A bold colourist, his expressionist work has been exhibited throughout the UK and beyond. One of Wales’ most accomplished landscape artists, Peter died in 2007 aged 60.
