Gwilym Prichard

Gwilym Prichard was born in the village of Llanystumdwy, Gwynedd in 1931. He studied at Birmingham College of Art and then took up a teaching position in Anglesey. Elected to the Royal Cambrian Academy, Gwilym regularly contributed to group exhibitions as well as staging several solo exhibitions throughout England and Wales. In the early 70’s he became a full time painter and, along with his wife and fellow artist Claudia Williams, started travels throughout Europe, settling in France for several years and opening the Rochefort School of Creative Arts in Brittany. He became one of Wales’ best known landscape painters, returning to live in Pembrokeshire in 2000. Gwilym died in June 2015.
